Entracque from the Latin '' intro '' means locality placed between the waters.

It is a renowned ski resort and has two ski lifts for a total of almost 8 kilometers of downhill slopes   and around 40 kilometers of cross-country skiing.

A visit to the "Luigi Einaudi" Information Center, in the municipality of Entracque, allows you to understand the complex functioning of the hydroelectric plants of the upper Valle Gesso consisting of two dams, one at almost 2,000 meters above sea level (Chiotas) the other a little more of 900 m (Plate) and from the lake Rovina 1535 meters, placed between the two barrages. to run the turbines in the power plant, completely dug out of the rock. In other periods, defying the force of gravity, the water from Lago della Piastra is pumped and stored until needed in the Chiotas dam. With a total power of about 1300 MW, the Enel power plant "Luigi Einaudi" is the largest hydroelectric plant in Italy and one of the largest in Europe.

Important: the entrance to the hydroelectric plant is guaranteed by reservation only, as the visits are conducted by the employees of the Coop. Montagne del Mare are only allowed in the presence of Enel personnel at the plant.

FAUNISTIC CENTER

The Center offers the visitor the opportunity to learn more about a predator par excellence, the wolf, which over the centuries has always represented a competitor for man, so much so as to be the protagonist of numerous myths and legends and, at the same time, the subject of a merciless hunt that in many situations has led to its extinction. Two exhibition spaces, located in Entracque country and in Casermette, are dedicated respectively to the man-wolf relationship and to the behavioral and relational characteristics of the animal, with the fascinating story of Ligabue, a young male followed thanks to a radio collar in his movements from the Parma Apennines to the Maritime Alps. The Wildlife Center in Casermette houses, in an enclosure of about eight hectares, some specimens born in captivity or victims of road accidents. Through a tunnel, inside which there is a visit path that presents the animal from a naturalistic point of view, you reach the middle of the area where the three-storey turret is located, aimed at sighting wolves.
